Originally developed by Ida P. Rolf, Ph. D., Rolfing is a type of bodywork involving hands-on connective tissue manipulation and body education, focusing on structural alignment and balanced movement. The work is typically applied in a series of ten sessions, known as the Basic 10 Series.
The main goal of the ten series is to systematically balance and optimize both the structure (shape) and function (movement) of the entire body. Each session focuses on releasing restrictions in different parts of the body, building upon the work of the previous session while preparing for the work of the following. It’s a process of education in which the Rolfer seeks to help the client discover the most efficient way of using his or her own body.
Appropriate session attire: Men – athletic shorts, Women – sports bra (preferably one that does not have straps that cross in the back) and athletic shorts.

The 10 Series
$125 per 75 minute session, package of 3 session (1-3 and 8-10) $350, package of 4 sessions (4-7) $450
If you’ve never received a Rolfing session before, the 10 series is the best place to start. Each session focuses on a different segment of the body and builds off of the previous session. Sessions 1 – 3 focus on the superficial layers of fascia while freeing up the breath, creating solid support from the ground, and lengthening the side-line of the body. Sessions 4 – 7 address the deeper fascial layers of the body while continuing to balance and organize the legs, pelvis, shoulders, and head. Sessions 8 – 10 are the integrative sessions that help solidify the changes achieved so far and relate the work to daily life.
Post-10 Sessions
$125 per 75 minute session
If you have been through the 10 series, it is recommended that you take a few months off from the work to let the changes continue to integrate. If you feel the need to receive more work after that time period, you can schedule an individual tune-up or a series of 3 post-10 sessions. The focus of these 3 sessions depends on the client, but typically consists of an upper body session, lower body session, and an integrative session.

FAQ
Does Rolfing Hurt?
No. While the work will be deep at times, we will always work within your body’s level of availability. Working through pain does not allow the nervous system to facilitate lasting change. The body tenses and braces for protection in the presence of pain, which is the opposite of what we want to have happen. Our goal is to challenge the system in a therapeutic way.
What are the Benefits?
Improved Posture & Structure – Releasing fascial restrictions allows for your spine to be supported in gravity, likely helping you hold your chiropractic adjustments longer. It also allows for greater range of motion and improved flexibility.
Injury Prevention & Recovery – Rolfing creates resilience and balance in your tissues, reducing the stress around joints. It also helps you become more aware of your body. This re-mapping enhances the brain-body connection and helps eliminate dysfunctional movement patterns that often occur after an injury.
Pain Reduction & Stress Relief – Aligning the body in the gravity field and creating efficient movement patterns can greatly reduce or eliminate chronic pain. It allows the structures that were meant for long term activation to do their job stabilizing without the interference of the short term activation structures, which are meant to help us interact with the world around us. Rolfing also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system,
encouraging relaxation and renewal.
