Water Quality is Essential

In lieu of a newsletter for March, I’m sharing a brief PSA about water quality. We moved into our new home about a year and a half ago. It seemed to be a dream come true: 3.5 acres on a paved road, fenced pasture, small barn, a house with character and a great location. However, strange health problems started to pop up for ourselves and our animals over the past few months. We were experiencing fatigue, brain fog, GI issues, joint pain, adrenal/thyroid dysfunction, ect. The cats lost a little weight, started pulling hair out, and vomiting more often that normal. The barn critters were itchy, crabby, bloated, and sore. It was becoming increasingly clear that something was wrong, but no one had definitive answers for us after lab work and vet/doctor visits.

We knew the water quality of our well wasn’t great. It stained our tub and toilets and had a mildly unpleasant smell, but I grew up on well water and knew that some of these things were to be expected with well water. We decided to send a sample in to a lab. The overview of our results is below:

As you can see, the results were quite shocking but also made a lot of sense considering the circumstances. It’s going to take some time to get back to health, but at least we have a game plan now. We plan to get hooked up to rural water as soon as the ground thaws this spring, and we’re working with our doctor and veterinarian to detox our bodies and minds.

My hope in sharing this is that it encourages others to test their well water, especially if you are having any sort of health issues. Clean water is essential for all life!
